MOBILE CHECK · BEFORE THE CALL

Mobile video chat works better after a sixty-second device check.

A phone-first checklist for network, battery, orientation, permissions, headphones, privacy and avoiding accidental exposure.
READ THIS FIRSTThree things worth keeping.
  1. 1Prefer a trusted network and enough battery.
  2. 2Lock orientation before choosing a frame.
  3. 3Hide notifications and use headphones around other people.
0160-SECOND SETUP

Six checks before matching.

Network

Use stable Wi-Fi or cellular data you trust; avoid sensitive conversations on unknown public networks.

Battery

Charge first or keep a safe cable position that will not pull the phone mid-call.

Browser

Update it and close apps that are already using the camera or microphone.

Audio

Use headphones to reduce echo and protect the other person’s voice.

Frame

Set the phone down securely and remove identifying background details.

Notifications

Enable focus mode or hide previews before sharing the screen area.

02PHONE POSITIONS

Choose stability over a dramatic angle.

Handheld

Flexible but revealing

Movement can expose the room and tire your arm. Keep the camera pointed deliberately.

Propped

Stable and calmer

A secure stand improves eye line and reduces accidental movement.

Walking

High-risk context

Location clues, bystanders, traffic and network changes make private conversation harder.

To separate browser permission from room visibility, review the camera-optional control guide .

03IF THE CALL FAILS

Recover without exposing more.

01

Turn camera off

Reduce bandwidth and regain a clear state before troubleshooting.

02

Check the active device

Confirm another app has not taken the microphone or camera.

03

Change one variable

Move network, browser or device one at a time so you know what fixed the problem.

04

Leave before reloading

Do not refresh an active room if you are unsure what the next camera state will be.

04MOBILE PRIVACY

Phones carry more identity than the camera shows.

01

Notifications

Names, one-time codes and message previews can appear over a call.

02

Location

Photos, maps, weather widgets and the physical background can reveal where you are.

03

Account switching

Saved passwords and linked identities make shared devices especially sensitive.

04

Screenshots

Assume visible information can be captured even when the room is one-to-one.

05WHEN MOBILE IS NOT THE RIGHT DEVICE

Convenience is not always privacy.

Choose a larger, stationary device when you need better control over framing, payment details or account settings. Avoid live chat while driving, at work, in shared sleeping spaces or anywhere another person can enter the frame without warning.

If a mobile session becomes difficult to control, ending it is safer than improvising. A good conversation can be restarted; an accidental disclosure cannot always be taken back.
