TRUST & SAFETY · INCIDENT GUIDE

Spot and report video chat scams before attention becomes leverage.

Warning signs for money requests, external links, identity pressure, prerecorded media and what useful reporting context looks like.
READ THIS FIRSTThree things worth keeping.
  1. 1Urgency plus secrecy is a strong warning signal.
  2. 2Never send money or verification codes to preserve a connection.
  3. 3A useful report is factual, brief and attached to the relevant account or room.
01THE PRESSURE SEQUENCE

Many scams move through the same four changes.

Hook

Exceptional attention

The person creates rapid intimacy or claims unusual compatibility before knowing you.

Move

Leave the platform

They push toward another app where moderation context and account controls are weaker.

Crisis

Create urgency

A sudden emergency, travel problem, verification need or investment opportunity appears.

Leverage

Use fear or attachment

Requests escalate into money, codes, personal media, threats or secrecy.

02RED FLAGS

Stop when two or more signals appear.

Money or gift cards

Especially when the story discourages you from checking with someone else.

One-time codes

A code can transfer account access even when the request sounds harmless.

Unfamiliar links

Login, age verification or private gallery links can be credential theft.

Camera inconsistency

Looping motion, mismatched audio or refusal to respond to simple live prompts may indicate prerecorded media.

Threats involving images

Do not pay. End contact, preserve context and report the threat.

03REPORT WELL

Four actions after a serious warning.

01

End contact

Do not negotiate, threaten back or attempt to expose the person.

02

Protect accounts

Change reused passwords, revoke sessions and contact financial providers if payment information was shared.

03

Record basic context

Keep the account name, date, approximate time and nature of the request. Avoid redistributing intimate material.

04

Report through the right channel

Use in-product reporting, then contact relevant financial, law-enforcement or specialist services when necessary.

04USEFUL REPORT CONTENT

Facts help moderation act faster.

01

Who

The visible account or room identifier.

02

When

Date, time and recent room context.

03

What

The request, threat, impersonation or policy behavior in neutral language.

04

Impact

Whether money, credentials, identity or personal media may be at risk.

05DO NOT INVESTIGATE ALONE

Safety is not a test of cleverness.

Attempting to prove a scammer’s identity can increase exposure and may alert the person before moderators review the account. Your goal is to stop harm, secure your information and send useful context to people with appropriate tools.

If someone threatens to share intimate material, do not send more material or money. Preserve the threat, block contact and seek specialist support available in your country.
